Kemore East is participating in a double-edged community service project.
Here is how you can help and maybe get a return on your selfless act.
Kenmore East and Herding for Hurting (an organization created by Ken East Grads) have teamed up with the Shoe Recycling Fundraiser Organization in hopes of collecting enough gently used shoes to benefit the city of Boston. This organization is willing to donate $0.25 per pound of shoes to One Fund Boston, an organization located in the heart of Boston dedicated to helping those most affected by the tragedy that occurred April 15, 2013. The shoes will then go on to benefit the less fortunate living in impoverished nations.
There will be donation drop off bins located in Kenmore East at rooms 209 and 301. All we need you to do is dig real deep and pull out a pair of gently- used shoes that you don’t need and place them in our bin.
NHS members can bring their shoes to Ms. Machniak (room 301) andreceive one hour for every two pair of shoes.
Government Students can bring their shoes to Mr. Liss (room 209) andreceive one point for every pair of shoes.
All students who just want to donate to make a difference on this planet can bring them to Mr. Liss in 209 and receive "Total Conciousness" (so you got that going for you).
So… what can you donate?
· Men’s dress shoes, casual shoes, & sandals
· Ladies’ flats, low heels & sandals
· Athletic- basketball, tennis, running, soccer, & rubber cleats
· Kid’s casual, dress, and athletic shoes
*Please, no flip-flops or high heels.
